"Resources for Tulsa & Surrounding Areas for Mental Health & Other Needs "

Synopsis:

This past Wednesday, December 7th, Brookhaven Hospital hosted an informative seminar entitled "Resources for Tulsa & Surrounding Areas for Mental Health & Other Needs." The seminar, one of several professional luncheons (1st Wednesday of each month) offered by the hospital, brought together a wide variety of Therapists, Counselors and Social Workers throughout Tulsa.

Mike Brose MSW, the Executive Director of the Mental Health Association in Tulsa, provided attendees with vital information on some of the programs offered by MHAT. In particular, Mr. Brose discussed MHAT's Housing Program and some alarming statistics about the homeless population in Tulsa, OK.

Speaker Profile


Mike Brose MSW, Executive Director of the Mental Health Association in Tulsa

Mr. Brose, MSW received his BA in social work from Oral Roberts University in 1979 and his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas in 1980. His clinical practice included individual, group and family therapy and he has experience working in medical and mental health settings in both the public and private sectors.

As Executive Director, Mr. Brose is involved in advocacy on behalf of people affected by mental illness, mental health education, youth suicide prevention, housing for homeless mentally ill and mental health related public policy issues. His current focus includes work with children and adolescents, individuals with severe physical illnesses, the elderly, and the severely mentally ill. He has done extensive consulting with schools and businesses in the aftermath of critical incidents and was instrumental in the creation of the Association’s teen counseling program, SafeTeam.
